The Keestrack R6 at Movarec New options for higher performance

Belgian recycling company Movarec has been working with the diesel-hydraulic Keestrack R6 impact crusher and screening unit for about a year. The new equipment has not only made it possible to increase performance and quality, but also to substantially expand the area of use of the impact crusher unit with its capacity of 300 tonnes/hour.

Headquartered in Ingelmunster, a town close to the city of Kortrijk and the French border, the Belgian Monseré group has a workforce of 20. The company of Monseré, with its primary activities of earthworking and demolition work, was founded by Davy Monseré in 1994. Thanks to its own transport department, Movatrans, and its own recycling department, Movarec, the company has expanded into an interregional supplier of services for earthworking, demolition work and the recycling of building materials, demolition waste and organic matter.

Under the leadership of Jurgen Monseré, Movarec is responsible for the mobile recycling of construction and demolition waste on Monseré construction sites and customer projects. The recycling company also operates a breaking yard for building rubble, class A and B timber and green waste in Veurne in the province of West Flanders, not far from the coast. The company has a workforce of six, who together process up to 600,000 tonnes of building waste each year. The breaking yard occupies almost 1 hectare of land and produces around 70,000 tonnes of high-grade recycling granulate.

At the end of 2016, Movarec replaced its 70 tonne impact crusher unit with a diesel-hydraulic version of the Keestrack R6. Despite the fully equipped configuration comprising of the dual-deck pre-screener and the double-deck post-screen module and recirculation of the oversized-particle fraction, the machine with an ultra-efficient 1300-series crusher (inlet size: 1300 x 970 mm, rotor weight: 6,100 kg) barely weighs more than 61 tonnes. Unlike its predecessor at Movarec, the new machine can be transported on a low-loader without having to disassemble the after-screen module. This significantly improves mobility, shortens downtimes considerably, and guarantees the profitability of the large crusher with a capacity of 300 tonnes/hour, even in the case of medium-sized process volumes.

Efficiency as an option

Keestrack’s Belgian distributor for the provinces of East and West Flanders, H.M.B., which undertook the supply and support of the machine, also confirms that the unit was a perfect match for the demands set by Movarec. A compressed air unit was added to the sprinkler system, for example, in order to clean the spray nozzles quickly and effectively after use. The Keestrack R6 is equipped ex factory with additional new options to optimise production capacity and results - and are geared specifically to recycling applications.

At the end of 2016, Keestrack presented its own Neodym overbelt magnet, clearly improving separation despite the use of lighter components. The weight of a mere 1,200 kg makes the new Neodym overbelt magnet approx. 400 kg lighter than the conventional ferrite model, thereby significantly lowering the transport weight of the entire machine. The magnetic force of 750 gauss at a distance of 300 mm is around 300 % more powerful, making it possible to separate material efficiently even at a greater distance from the conveyor belt (which can be adjusted to between 150 and 345 mm). The Neodym overbelt magnets have lifetime lubrication, making them practically maintenance-free. All the functions of the optionally hydraulic or electrically driven power units can be controlled remotely.

The new Keestrack wind-sifter can also be powered by means of conventional and hybrid-drive concepts: both hydraulic and electrical options are available (power consumption: max. 15 kW). The compact ventilation fans generate considerable air flows (25 m³/min) which are directed via a high-volume dual hose to the wide outlets of the conveyor belt for the oversized-particle fraction of the optional double-deck screen. The adjustable outlet angle (by means of the remote control) and the variable air flow enable the Keestrack wind-sifter to be set perfectly to the degree of contamination and material type (timber, plastic etc.). The integrated power supply (weight: 11 kg) also remains on the machine during transport; it is only necessary to disassemble the air hoses and outlet rails in the hinged section of the conveyor belt.

Best practice

Jurgen Monseré can look back in satisfaction at more than 1,600 operating hours since the Keestrack R6 was delivered in December 2016. Besides the high level of deployability on account of the flexible transport options, the machine, which includes a 450 kW Volvo diesel engine and an efficient load-sensing drive, also demonstrates its high level of profitability, as only two operators are required to run it. Even in the case of heavy-duty feed material containing a large amount of concrete, the large crusher achieves an impressive performance of 120 tonnes/hour for 0/20 granulate and 200 tonnes/hour for 0/40 granulate. The documented average use at full capacity is between 50 and 60 l/hour; so thanks to a tank capacity of 925 litres, long operating periods on site can be achieved without expensive logistical support.
